Clean technology, otherwise known as Green technology, continues to gather momentum. Investments by US venture capital firms into clean technology firms have increased, both in absolute dollar terms and also as a percentage of total VC investments (representing 1.1% and 7.4% in 2003 and 2007 respectively). What is clear is that cleantech sector is here to stay ...
As the sector grows, it matures and segments in terms of types of business model and appropriateness of financing sources.
Recent cleantech publications include:
PWC - "Cleantech Comes of Age"
Economist - "The Power and the Glory - A special report on energy" (21st June 2008 magazine)
CVCA - 2007 VC total/cleantech financings
Cleantech Investor - "Agriculture: Feeding (and Fueling) the World"
McKinsey - "Reducing US Greenhouse Gas Emissions"
The Guardian - "Brown unveils £100 billion renewable energy plan"
Separately, I draw attention to viropop.com, an entertaining and informative weekly video podcast show that - in its own quirky way - highlights all sorts of emerging green products and cleantech issues.
